As expected, the Queen of Pop used her O2 arena gig to pay a public tribute to the legendary singer, who passed away following a heart attack on June 25.
In a special Jacko-themed segment of the concert, Madonna addressed the crowd by saying: "To one of the greatest performers the world has ever known - Michael Jackson."
Her words followed a special dance section dedicated to Jackson, which featured one dancer moonwalking across the stage while wearing a black hat - one of the star's favourite wardrobe accessories.
Short extracts from Jackson's hit songs 'Billie Jean' and 'Wanna Be Startin' Something' were also performed, while pictures of the pop icon as a child appeared on a giant screen.
The tribute earned a positive response from fans on the night. Victoria Mears, from Billericay, Essex, told the BBC: "I really liked it. It seemed very fitting for the Queen of Pop to pay tribute to the King of Pop."
Helen Levy, from Winchester, Hants, added: "She seemed very passionate when she spoke about Michael Jackson. It's clear that he was a great inspiration to her."
Madonna will perform a second show at The O2 tonight before moving on to Manchester and Paris next week.
