The festival organiser and daughter Emily are said to favour a bill made up exclusively of acts that have played at the event over the past four decades.
"Michael and Emily want to make next year's festival the most memorable ever," a source told The Sun.
"They've got a number of ideas up their sleeves, but one they are already working on is getting past performers to play at the next bash.
"They've sent out feelers and have got a lot of positive feedback so far.
"And if they manage to pull their plan off, then, without a shadow of a doubt, they will have one of the greatest musical bills ever put together in history."
Previous acts to perform at the legendary festival include Radiohead, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Jones, Arctic Monkeys and Primal Scream.
Earlier this week, ticket registration opened for 2010 amid speculation that Eavis will step down after the anniversary festival.
