Charity book Inspired* By Music, which will raise money for The Princes Trust, also includes choices from other celebrities including Sharon Osbourne, Kevin Spacey and Al Pacino, PA reports.
Of Take That's selection, singer Gary Barlow said: "I don't think you can listen to this song without feeling inspired, it could save anybody - the lyrics are so inspirational.
"I was having a very low moment in the 1990s and the song came on the radio. There have only been a very few times when I've had to pull the car over to listen to a song - this was one of them."
However, bandmate Howard Donald said: "It was a majority decision and I got out-voted. I would have chosen 'Someone Saved My Life Tonight' by Elton John.
"Saying that, I really like the song and can see why it inspired Gary. If you're going through a low point in your life it's a beautiful song to sing."
'Don't Give Up' was written by Peter Gabriel and recorded with Kate Bush for a single release in 1986.
