Turner: 'My lyrics weren't up to it'

Rex Features

Alex Turner has said that he did not print his lyrics on album liner notes in the past because he did not think that they were good enough.

The Arctic Monkeys frontman told The Observer that the decision not to publish song words together with album releases would change in future.

Turner said: "Didn't have the bottle before. Didn't think they were up to it. But I will do next time."

Regarding the lyrical references to the 1970s and '80s in Arctic Monkeys songs, he added: "It's just humour. I tried to get two Duran Duran references into every second song at one point, but couldn't manage it in the end."
