The '4 Minutes' star has announced that she will bring her 'Sticky & Sweet' tour to Warsaw on August 15, which clashes with the annual celebration of the heavenly assumption of the Virgin Mary.
It is reported that Poland's ombudsman has asked city officials to explain why the singer has been allowed to perform on the date.
Marian Brudzynski, the leader of Catholic group Committee for the Protection of Faith and National Traditions, has announced that he is planning two weeks of protests beginning July 31.
The country's former president Lech Walesa previously claimed that he would "support" any protests against the performance.
Yesterday, Madonna expressed her condolences after one person was killed and another six injured when a stage collapsed during preparation for her concert in Marseilles. It was earlier reported that a second person died overnight.
