The group, who first found fame on The X Factor last year, are currently celebrating after reaching the top of the UK singles chart with debut song 'Beat Again'.
Merrygold, 21, has now vowed to enjoy the trappings of fame for as long as possible, including attention from female fans.
Speaking to The Sun, he confirmed: "We're not Westlife. We've only been in this job for under a year. We're enjoying it.
"We're not going to sit here and say we never go on dates and we never have sex or whatever. Westlife had such a clean-cut image. There are a lot of ladies out there."
Bandmate Marvin Humes added: "We're young boys in the only boyband in the UK. What do you think is going to happen? It's great."
Tickets for the group's forthcoming UK tour will go on sale on Friday.
