The '90s boyband, who scored hits with songs such as 'Everybody' and 'I Want It That Way', recently confirmed that they were plotting a comeback without former member Kevin Richardson.
"We're here to stay - we want to be as big as The Rolling Stones," Carter is quoted as telling WENN.
The star, who previously battled alcohol and drug addictions, added that he had sobered up for the tour and had lost four stone: "There are demons I am fighting but I just want to be fit and healthy. If you fall off the horse, you just have to get back on again."
The Backstreet Boys will kick off their European tour in Portugal on October 30, before arriving in the UK in November for six dates.
