Brown's sixth solo record My Way is scheduled for release on September 28 and was apparently mixed on the day Jackson died, June 25.
"Thriller was our blueprint," the ex-Stone Roses frontman told NME. "Every time we wrote a song we didn't think was strong enough, we scrapped it.
"We mastered it on the day that Michael Jackson died, too, so I'm taking that as a good omen."
Lead single 'Stellify' will be released on September 21.
Brown also covered Jackson's hit 'Billie Jean' for the B-side to his number five single 'Dolphins Were Monkeys'. The track featured on the limited edition bonus disc of his Best Of Greatest album along with his interpretation of the late singer's classic single 'Thriller'.
