The Matchbox Twenty lead singer, who is in Australia to promote his solo album Cradlesong, is providing the late Michael Hutchence's former band with vocals for two tracks on their new greatest hits album.
Thomas told The Herald Sun: "The only other version I've heard was Brandon Flowers doing 'Beautiful Girl', and I've heard they're going for a French girl to sing 'Need You Tonight' - in French, which would be really sexy."
The singer added that he does not believe the band should have quit after the death of frontman Hutchence, saying: "They want to continue to make music. I get the sense that once they do this, they can move forward - and do it this time without a circus attached."
