The Britain's Got Talent runner-up will travel across the Atlantic in November and sing at a number of public events, Daily Record reports.
A source said: "We are really pleased with how she is doing and the album is now well on the way to being finished.
"Susan will be flying over to America in November to give her fans a treat for Thanksgiving. The plan is for an LP to be out before the end of the year."
They added: "It will be the first time she has sung live in America and, despite the pressure, Susan still loves singing and can't wait.
"Initially, there were plans for a single but now it seems to be all about an album. Some of Simon [Cowell]'s other acts like Il Divo don't bother with singles and so Susan will probably follow the same plan."
Cowell has promised that Boyle's album will "surprise a lot of people".
