Rapper Drake collapses on stage

Rapper Drake is preparing to undergo surgery after collapsing during a concert on Friday night.

The 'Best I Ever Had' star was performing alongside Lil' Wayne and the Young Money Crew in Camden, New Jersey when his knee gave way while dancing and he had to be carried off the stage.

He had reportedly been advised by doctors not to take part in the tour because he was still recovering after tearing his knee ligament a few weeks ago while playing basketball.

However, writing on his official blog, the 22-year-old said that he had no regrets about going ahead: "I will forever push myself beyond the limits despite advice and recommendations given because even with this new found success, I am still the kid who wanted this more than anything in the world."

Drake, who was previously linked to Rihanna, added that he was currently en route to Toronto, where he would be "spending the next chunk of time recovering" from the surgery.
