The record, which is expected to be made up of Jackson's greatest hits, will also reportedly include covers by Whitney Houston, Usher, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Robbie Williams and Lionel Richie.
Britain's Got Talent star Shaheen Jafargholi, who performed at the late King of Pop's memorial service last month, is also rumoured to be recording a cover song, according to the Daily Star.
"The idea came from the memorial concert. Many fans asked if cover versions would be released and it seemed a wonderful idea," a source said.
"Some the biggest stars in the world have indicated they'd like to take part to pay their own respects and tribute to the King of Pop.
"This covers album is sure to be a massive worldwide hit with fans and could raise a fortune for Michael's favourite charities."
Williams and Houston will both reportedly play comeback gigs at London's O2 arena in 2010 to fill the dates left by Jackson's cancelled 50-date residency.
