The 'Pork and Beans' rockers made the announcement via their official website, according to NME.
The band have still to confirm the record's title and tracklisting - although in a message on the site they promised that there would be "more to come".
It is believed that Jacknife Lee, who has worked on recent albums by U2, REM and Bloc Party, is in line to produce the LP.
The release is the follow-up to Weezer's eponymously-titled 2008 album - often dubbed The Red Album due to its artwork colour.
