Jarman will be stepping in for the band's regular bass player Bob Hardy at gigs in Denver and Salt Lake City tomorrow and Sunday respectively. Both concerts are part of the Tonight rockers' US tour supporting Green Day.
A spokesperson for the group told NME that Hardy would be absent from the forthcoming performances as they clash with a wedding he has arranged to attend.
A message from The Cribs on their official MySpace page read: "That's right... for Cribs fans in the USA, look out for Gary… as he will be filling Bob Hardy's position on bass guitar for Franz Ferdinand on tour with Green Day."
The post went on to reveal that Jarman had not had a great deal of time to get acquainted with Franz Ferdinand's back catalogue, saying: "No practice, no soundcheck, no worries. Just winging it in front of 20,000 people. Sweet."
The two bands are said to be close friends and have collaborated together in the past - Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos produced The Cribs' 2007 album Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever.
