Brit Awards bosses are planning a "landmark" ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the annual music bash, it has emerged.

The event will be broadcast live from London's Earls Court on February 16 and include a special segment to commemorate previous shows.

"For the 30th Brits show we're planning a landmark event that truly celebrates this occasion," chairman of the Brits committee Ged Doherty said.

"The Brits is the UK - and Europe's - premier music show and one of the biggest media events of the year. The show has seen many changes in recent years and I have no doubt we will continue to build on the spectacular success of this year's show."

The nominees for the Brits 2010 will be announced at London's indigO2 on January 18.

Duffy was the big winner at this year's Brit Awards, taking home three gongs for british female, british breakthrough act and the prestigious british album for Rockferry.
