According to NME, the move comes ahead of festival officials' attempts to remove obstructions to the stage and ensure fans get the best possible view during the bank holiday bash later this month.
"Flags won't be allowed in the arena. They restrict the view of people behind," the event's official website states.
Reading and Leeds takes place from August 28 to August 30. Radiohead, Kings Of Leon and Arctic Monkeys headline the main stage, while all tickets have now sold out.
