The co-frontman of the band and current Babyshambles singer told NME that he had agreed the reunion with drummer Gary Powell and bassist John Hassall
Doherty said: "It's going to happen, you know. I spoke to John Hassall, he's well up for it. [Powell] said he would."
He joked that he would consider playing the shows without his fellow songwriter Carl Barāt, who himself performed at festivals as The Libertines in the past without Doherty when he was temporarily exiled from the band.
"I'll put an advert in NME, 'Carlos lookalike required'," Doherty added.
Last month, Doherty said that The Libertines would record a new album and play a full tour in 2010.
