The 'Obsessed' singer reportedly ensured that she will not be in the running for next year's nominations after announcing that upcoming record Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel will be released on September 29 - missing the Grammy cut-off date by just one day.
The 39-year-old star has won only five out of the 21 Grammy nominations she has received since 1991, and apparently snubbed organisers of the event in order to avoid another disappointment.
An industry insider told the New York Daily News: "Mariah's been [let down] so many times before that it's like a big 'kiss my butt' to the Grammy folks. She doesn't need the awards because her career is already so successful."
The 52nd Grammy Awards ceremony is due to be held at Los Angeles' Staples Centre on January 31.
