Staffordshire police confirmed that sniffer dogs will be deployed around the Weston Park site to deter people entering carrying narcotics, adding that anyone who is caught will be prosecuted.
Chief inspector Vera Bloor told the Birmingham Post: "Drugs aren't welcome at V. If you take them, or deal in them, we'll catch you and prosecute you."
Local officials will also be performing random breath tests on fans entering and leaving the field to ensure that they are not over the drink-drive limit.
In a separate warning, Chelmsford police revealed that they have stepped up CCTV coverage to monitor illegal activity on site and that they will also use sniffer dogs in their battle against drugs.
Superintendent Steve Johnson said: "Let them be under no illusions about our stance on drug-taking or dealing. We will prosecute anyone seen to be committing criminal offences."
