The girl group recorded a song with the 19-year-old Jamaican for the upcoming seventh studio album but described him as the "the most unlikely candidate" to work with.
"We've always said Kanye West, Jay-Z, Missy Elliot, Andre 300 - we've always gone that route," Keisha Buchanan said.
"Just kind of the rappers, you know what I mean. He's more of a singer kind of rapper. Then when we heard this track..."
The trio recently claimed that their new album, which is due out in November, will showcase an "eclectic" side to the group.
Sugababes release new single 'Get Sexy' on August 31.
