The band had faced criticism from supporters for pulling out of last night's gig in Chelmsford after Gallagher was diagnosed with viral laryngitis. They were later replaced by Snow Patrol.
Writing on his Twitter account, the singer said: "The voice may have disappeared but I'm still here. First things first, V, I'm gutted, you're gutted. I'm sorry, what can I say?"
He later added: "Secondly, respect to those bands who covered Oasis last night, even though I might have given some of you s**t in the past."
Oasis had performed at the Saturday night festival in Stafford before Gallagher was advised by doctors not to continue. The Sunday performance would have marked the band's final UK date on their current world tour.
