Speculation circulated earlier today claiming that Watts "will never record or tour with the band again".
The story was subsequently featured on several online news services before a statement was released to Uncut by the band's UK spokesperson.
The statement read: "Contrary to a fabricated story that ran this morning on a small music website in Australia, drummer Charlie Watts has not left The Rolling Stones."
Watts originally joined the group in 1963.
The rumour comes just days after reports that police are planning to re-examine the death of The Rolling Stones' former guitarist Brian Jones, who drowned in 1969.
