The 'Independent Women' chart-toppers broke up in 2005 so each member could pursue solo careers.
Williams was recently quoted as saying: "It will definitely happen. We’re sisters, we love each other and we want to work on the future of Destiny’s Child."
However, the star has since released a statement via her Twitter account that refutes the claims and apologises to fans for the misunderstanding.
She wrote: "I never said DC is getting back together. Just bcuz I said we love each other and are sisters... they took that quote and ran with it! Sorry. (sic)"
