Scarlett Johansson has revealed that she dreads singing in front of a live audience because she suffers from stage fright.

The 24-year-old actress, who released new album Break Up with friend Pete Yorn, has admitted that she's petrified of success in the music industry because she's not looking forward to touring.

Johansson told Black Book magazine: "I have terrible stage fright. I've never had to sing in front of a live audience, other than some back-up vocals.

"It seems incredibly revealing, very different from making a red-carpet appearance, where the glitz and glamour of movie stardom... can mask any sort of insecurity."

Johansson, who recently confessed that she always wanted to sing like Frank Sinatra, has said that if she had to perform on stage she would consider dressing up like "a character from The Dark Crystal".
