Label: 'Glasvegas singer not missing'

Columbia Records has confirmed that Glasvegas frontman James Allan is not missing.

The singer did not attend the Mecury Prize ceremony in London last night, where his band were nominated for their self-titled debut album.

Allan's cousin and bandmate Rab later claimed that the singer had not been since Friday.

"We're not supposed to talk about it," he said. "He has been working really, really hard and he probably needs a break.

"His mum hasn't heard from him but we have told her not to worry. Everyone is panicking... I miss him. The message is, 'James, please get in touch'."

However, Columbia rubbished the rumours about Allan, claiming that he is looking forward to the band's upcoming support slots with Kings of Leon.

"James is not missing and he's very much looking forward to the Kings of Leon tour dates which start on September 11 in Bristol, Massachusetts," the label told the BBC.

Columbia could not confirm whether the group had left for the US together or explain why Allan had not been in contact with his bandmates.
