Glasvegas singer James Allan is safe and well and in New York, it has been confirmed.

Fears had been raised for the wellbeing of the frontman after he was reported missing earlier this week, though the band's label Columbia later said that they knew where he was.

Manager Dean Cunning told The Independent: "James is not missing, he's in New York. He got in touch with me yesterday at about 1.45pm to tell me he was okay because he knew people were worried.

"But to be honest I've been just as much in the dark about this as anybody - the last time I saw James was at the gig in Cardiff. I don't even know exactly when he went missing."

When asked if Allan would rejoin the band for their upcoming US dates with Kings of Leon, Cunning added: "I f**king hope so."

Glasvegas had reportedly been due to perform at Tuesday's Mercury Prize ceremony, at which they had been nominated for their self-titled debut album.
