Jade Ewen has admitted that she was nervous about how pop fans would react to her new single.
The singer made her name performing 'It's My Time', a ballad written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, but her new single 'My Man' has a more modern R&B sound.
"I was more nervous about doing this than the Eurovision stuff, because with Eurovision I was sort of playing a role," she told DS.
"What I'm now doing now is really me, so if people don't like it I'm going to take it more personally."
However, Ewen revealed that she has been pleased by the response to the track.
"It's been really positive. Everyone's quite shocked by it but in a good way. It's completely different to 'It's My Time' so I'm glad people seem to like it," she said.
Ewen also told DS that Lloyd Webber had sent her a message praising the single.
"'It's very contemporary pop' were his exact words! I think in his mind it's probably not what he would have done - he's more about big arrangements and live strings and stuff - but he knows this is where I want to be," she said.
Jade Ewen releases 'My Man' on September 21.
