West was greeted with boos when he interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for best female video to suggest that Beyoncé should have won the prize instead.
Beyoncé later invited Swift on stage to finish her speech after she picked up her own gong for video of the year.
Speaking to Us Weekly, Rowland said: "Beyoncé is such a classy, gracious woman. I actually tweeted that and everybody was like, 'It's so true'.
"I think that as a music industry and a fellow artist, it's important to know that there is room for everybody. Kanye is a genius - no-one takes that away from him, but [he should] be moral and be a [good] person."
West has since apologised to Swift for the outburst.
