Ticket details for the 40th Glastonbury Festival have been confirmed by organisers.

Fans will be able to purchase entry to the event from 9am on Sunday, October 4. The £50 deposit scheme, which proved a success at last year's festival, will be used again.

The deposit will reserve fans a ticket, which can be paid off in full at a later date. A full priced ticket will cost £185.

"The festival's long awaited 40th anniversary celebrations start here," said Glastonbury founder and organiser Michael Eavis. "Back in 1970 we'd had a few cancellations and were struggling a bit. We needed to pull someone in to save the day. Luckily Marc Bolan, a huge star at the time, was driving along the A361 on his way to play Butlins in Minehead and we managed to get to him... The rest, of course, is history!

"Now I'm fully confident that the anniversary lineup will be just that little bit special when it is revealed next year. We want as many people as possible to be part of the celebrations and to enjoy what we do here."

Glastonbury 2010 will take place from Wednesday, June 23 until Sunday, June 27 at Worthy Farm, Somerset.
