Veronicas 'surprised' with Andre success

The Veronicas have admitted that they are surprised that fellow countryman Peter Andre is still so popular in the UK.

The Aussie duo, who release new single '4Ever' on September 28, were unaware that Andre had split with Katie Price and questioned whether it was a publicity stunt.

"Do people take them seriously or are they just seen as entertainment? I didn't even realise that they really had split up," singer Lisa Origliasso told DS.

"I thought it was just a publicity stunt. They're not at all newsworthy in Australia or America so I haven't been following them at all. I love how the UK is obsessed with reality TV - it's hilarious."

Jess Origliasso went on to claim that Andre could damage his music career by constantly appearing in reality TV series.

"To me he seems more like a reality star than anything else because his personal life's out there for all to see. I don't personally find that appealing because it takes the magic out of the music. It's the Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey syndrome," she said.

Andre's new album Revelation reached number three in the UK charts and is scheduled for release in Australia next year.

The Veronicas release their album Hook Me Up on October 12.
