The Scottish singer topped the UK chart with her debut disc This Is The Life in January 2008 and has been working on its follow-up in recent months.
"I've been busy in the recording studio. We have a selection of songs recorded and we're hoping to release the album early next year," MacDonald is quoted by the Daily Record as saying.
She continued: "Some of the sounds are just amazing and we've managed to persuade one of my favourite artists to whack some stuff down on them, but you'll have to wait and see."
MacDonald also told fans that This Is The Life is now "well on the way" to reaching sales of three million.
