The duo have been joined by Eurovision's Jade Ewen following the departure of Keisha Buchanan, who was the only remaining original member.
Commenting on Ewen's appointment, Buena told 1Xtra: "I reckon she would be a lot better as a soloist because she's got an amazing voice. It would kind of seem like she'll be in the frontline and there'll be two backing singers."
Buena also suggested that Buchanan's exit shows that no member of the band has a safe position.
"Sugababes' brand name is obviously more important than who's in the Sugababes," she explained. "But I don't know whether them changing or replacing Keisha is going to make the Sugababes any better than what it was."
Buena quit the group in 2005 to spend more time with her young daughter and pursue a solo career.
