Dot Allison has revealed that her favourite album cover is the Andy Warhol-designed sleeve for The Velvet Underground & Nico.
The ex-One Dove singer told Metro that she is also a fan of the record, which was originally released in 1967.
Allison said: "It's such a visually arresting piece and so of its time. I love Warhol's treatment of ordinary objects and mass-produced image, and I suppose he had created such a visual fingerprint that it was so immediately him and The Velvet Underground.
"Colliding that iconography with the totally original and arresting music of The Velvets and Nico was an inspired choice."
She added: "What with John Cale's atonal strings, the dark songs, Nico's moody tones and Moe Tucker's consciously moronified drumming, the whole thing was a totally fresh take on the popular song.
"So all in all, this album was a wonderful meeting of minds of forward-thinkers who had gravitated towards each other on a scene where art and music boundaries blur."
The Velvet Underground & Nico was recently covered in its entirety for the Beck-led Record Club project.
