Despite their widely-publicised feud that lasted over five years, the pair reconciled in 2005 and have worked together several times since.
Asked if he enjoyed hearing the rapper's latest record, Nas told MTV News: "Yeah of course, The Blueprint 3 is an album that suits the times, it's real rap music, you know what I'm saying?"
He also revealed who he believes to be the next stars of rap, adding: "I respect the young MCs, they are the future, if they can hold it down.
"But it's all about the warrior guys, the Jay-Zs and the Raekwons, right now. Hopefully the young guys can get to that level where they are man, but right now I gotta listen to the stuff that really matters."
