The 'Fly On The Wall' singer had warned fans on Twitter that she was not feeling well ahead of her scheduled concert in Salt Lake City on Tuesday evening.
"Woke up with a sore throat. Why am I always sick?" she wrote. "Think I'm gonna take one more nap before the big show here in SLC.
"My throat is yelling at me to shut up! Strep is the worst thing ever."
According to reports, the star was forced to leave the stage while performing '7 Things' and a stage manager informed the crowd that she was receiving medical treatment. She returned after 15 minutes and completed the show.
The 16-year-old later posted a picture online of her dad Billy Ray wearing a blonde wig and hospital mask, writing: "These are the times that my daddy really comes in handy. He made me smile through the worst pain I've ever felt."
Cyrus kicked off her 'Wonder World' tour in Portland earlier this month.
