According to Angry Ape, 'Vanity Kills' - which the singer penned with Dave McCracken - was intended for use on West's 808s & Heartbreak.
However, the song eventually ended up being included on Brown's own My Way album.
The former Stone Roses frontman explained: "Dave was asked to write a song for Kanye West. Amanda Ghost wrote the melody, Dave wrote the music and they wanted me to write some lyrics."
He added: "It had to be a sort of autobiographical song for Kanye, so we had a few meetings and Amanda told me about Kanye because she knew him.
"She texted him and told him I would do the lyrics and he was delighted.
The song, however, missed the deadline for inclusion on 808s & Heartbreak.
