The Canadian singer, who has dueted with James Morrison and Flo Rida over the last 12 months, admitted that she trusts her instincts when choosing potential collaborators.
"I just go with my gut. A lot of times it's from personal connection. With James Morrison, I met him at the Brit Awards and he was just so kind and genuine and sweet. Spending time with somebody and wanting to share musical vibes with them is what I usually go on," she told DS.
"I'd love to work with Eminem. For me a collaboration is a learning experience and the way he crafts his lyrics is just so unique. I'd love to witness that."
Furtado, who recently released her first album in Spanish, Mi Plan, also revealed that she is looking for a high-profile female collaborator.
"I'd also like to work with a big girl popstar – maybe Madonna or Kylie Minogue?" she added.
"I've mostly done collaborations with men, but I got to work with a few females on Mi Plan, and it was fun breaking it up, so I'd like to explore that more in the future."
Mi Plan by Nelly Furtado is out now.
