His track 'Down', a collaboration with Lil Wayne, climbs to the summit of the Billboard Hot 100 this week, ending the Peas' 26-week spell at the top.
He becomes the first British act to reach number one in the US since Coldplay, who spent seven days on top with 'Viva La Vida' in June 2008.
Behind Sean, Miley Cyrus rebounds to two with 'Party In The USA', while Jay-Z bounces back to three with 'Run This Town'.
Meanwhile, 'I Gotta Feeling' by Black Eyed Peas slips to five after 14 weeks at the head of the chart. The group's previous single, 'Boom Boom Pow', spent 12 weeks on top before that.
