Veteran performer Andy Williams has reportedly confirmed himself to play next year's Glastonbury.

According to PA, the 81-year-old announced the news at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, where he was promoting his new autobiography.

The 'Music To Watch Girls By' singer is the first major act to announce that they are playing the event. The Rolling Stones, Muse and Coldplay are currently the bookmakers' favourites to headline the festival.

Tickets for the 40th anniversary Glastonbury sold out in just over 12 hours earlier this month. It will take place from June 23 to 27, 2010 at its regular home in Worthy Farm, Somerset.
