The New Zealand-born singer, whose album has received five nominations at the annual Aussie music awards, was controversially chosen to give a solo stage show at the event while Australian acts will have to share the stage.
Ladyhawke told The Daily Telegraph: "At this stage my head's not in a good space for that. I feel bad about the whole thing - I'd like to withdraw from it."
The 'My Delirium' star continued: "I don't like this sort of controversy. I completely understand where everyone's coming from [but] I'd rather not do the performance than do it and be booed or whatever."
She added: "I was excited about performing but I only just found out about the controversy, so my head's in a dark place."
Ladyhawke insisted that she was definitely eligible for the awards, as she owns a house in Sydney.
