Cole teamed up with the rapper last year to provide vocals for his single 'Heartbreaker', before later appearing in the video as a dancer.
The singer revealed that it was the pair's collaboration that encouraged her to record a solo album.
Contactmusic quotes Cole as saying: "He inspired me to go solo."
The two have since reunited in the studio with will.i.am contributing a track to her debut record 3 Words.
She added: "I wanted to work with will.i.am, which I did, and that's the next single, so that's amazing."
