Sting: 'Police tour would be dreadful'

Rex Features

Sting has dismissed rumours that The Police will tour again, insisting that another reunion would be "dreadful and gratuitous".

The warring bandmates put aside their differences to embark on a 14-month world tour in 2007 and 2008, which marked their first live shows together since 1983.

Drummer Stewart Copeland recently refused to rule out a second reformation, telling fans: "I intend to be on the planet here for another 50 years; who knows what'll happen."

However, Contactmusic quotes singer Sting as saying: "With The Police I think we did tie it up. And now it's done. [Another reunion would be] dreadful and gratuitous, and it wouldn't work."
