Morrissey has been released from hospital after collapsing on stage in Swindon last night, with the singer reportedly planning to complete the rest of his UK tour.

A spokeswoman from Great Western Hospital said that the 50-year-old was kept in overnight as a "precautionary measure" but that he is now "much improved" and has been discharged.

Meanwhile, chatshow host Jonathan Ross claimed that he has been in touch with a representative of the star, who revealed that the former Smiths frontman "seems OK".

Writing on Twitter, the TV presenter commented: "Latest Moz update. He is resting and hoping to finish these dates, inc. Albert Hall on Tuesday. Will keep you posted as and when."

A statement on the performer's website thanked fans for their concern.

It read: "Morrissey is in stable condition after his collapse in Swindon on Saturday night.

"Thanks go out to all his well-wishers. More information will be posted as soon as it is available."
