The 46-year-old is also rumoured to have directed a music video for the group and features on their forthcoming album Ex-Maniac, which is scheduled for release in February.
Depp previously played guitar on the Help Album version of Oasis' 'Fade Away' in 1995 and two years later on the band's 'Fade In-Out'.
Babybird rose to fame with single 'You're Gorgeous', which reached number three in October 1996.
They have released ten albums, including the Top 10 record Ugly Beautiful.
