The 'Confusion Girl' songwriter made the comments while speaking to FHM about how to write a hit record.
He said: "You know Britney Spears's 'If U Seek Amy'? It sounds like she's saying 'F-*-*-K Me', it's a play on words. That's not a song, it's a gimmick. It's like she's tried to come up with a logo.
"My favourite pop songs are those that sound like the person writing it didn't pick up a pen, the song just came to them. You might not have heard it before but it seems as if you could sing along to the lyrics."
He added: "Pop music needs tension and release. Like sex. Moments of delicacy need to be brought up to climactic points.
"We are talking about hits, so you are already limiting yourself to a verse-chorus-middle eight. However, that's where the limits end. Don't start wondering whether Radio 1 will play it."
Frankmusik recently claimed that will.i.am had "trackjacked" him by supposedly stealing his idea of using a Fleetwood Mac sample for a song on Cheryl Cole's debut solo album.
