The 62-year-old was taken to the King Edward VII Hospital in central London on Friday after his condition worsened, reports The Mail On Sunday.
A statement on his website said that doctors have advised him to postpone three concerts with Billy Joel, which were due to take place in the US on November 4, 7 and 10.
"Organisers of the events are working to establish new dates. All patrons who have purchased tickets are being asked to hold on to them until more information is available regarding the proposed rescheduled engagement," the statement read.
A number of UK and Irish 'Red Piano' tour performances have already been postponed due to the artist's ill health.
A spokesman told The People that he was confident that Sir Elton would be back on stage "in the very near future".
