JLS have defended Cheryl Cole's decision to mime on The X Factor last month.

The Girls Aloud singer used pre-recorded vocals for the choruses of debut solo song 'Fight For This Love' when she promoted the track on the show.

Discussing the controversial move in an interview with Metro, JLS's Jonathan 'JB' Gill argued that Cole made the right choice because she needed to concentrate on her dance routine.

He explained: "Sometimes you need to give the best performance possible and sometimes you have to mime, and for me, watching as a viewer I thought it was an absolutely incredible performance and she looked great and she danced amazing.

"It's all about the song at the end of the day, and we all think the song is great. We are going to get her album as well."

Meanwhile, his fellow singer Aston Merrygold added: "At the end of the day, she is one artist. She can't sing all four harmonies that there are going to be. We are okay because we can sing the whole chorus fully live because we are four people. She needs backing stuff. Like on the dance bit. She needs the under part, the high part and then she is singing the middle part."

The boyband, who competed on The X Factor's 2008 series, released their new single 'Everybody In Love' on Monday.
