The singer compared Buchanan's departure to a divorce and claimed that she was not prepared to badmouth her former bandmate in public.
"It's like if a couple go through a divorce. You don't need to go round shouting about everything that happened and went on," she told 1Xtra.
"Even though there has been a lineup change, I still have a lot of respect for Keisha. I spent eight years of my life with her. I would never go round telling tales and thing like that. That's not the way I've been brought up to deal with things.
"Because we haven't come out and said everything detail for detail, people have made up their own mind and speculated about things. It's all been going off, but we've come through the other side and from now on it's onwards and upwards."
Meanwhile, new recruit Jade Ewen revealed that she has not had the chance to fully embrace being a Sugababe because she has only met Amelle Berrabah three times.
"It's madness, it still didn't really feel real because with Amelle going away we haven't really been a trio other than the day I met the girls and the day we shot the video," she said.
"I have only seen Amelle three times, so when she gets back and we start going out and performing as Sugababes it will really sink in."
Sugababes release new single 'About A Girl' on November 9.
