Moore, who wrote the Watchmen comics, confirmed the news during an interview with Mustardweb about his new magazine Dodgem Logic, which is due to launch in November.
"They came down to Northampton last week because we're planning for me to do the libretto on their next opera project," he explained.
Moore revealed that Albarn had written around 70 songs for the production, which is believed to be even more ambitious than his 2008 opera Monkey: Journey To The West.
The writer also said that he hopes to get Albarn's animated band Gorillaz to feature in one of his books. "We've hopefully got Gorillaz on board," he added.
