The Foo Fighters frontman, who recently combined a group of rockers to make superband Them Crooked Vultures, set up a meal at a Medieval restaurant to see if they all got on.
Grohl is quoted by The Sun as saying: "It was weird, the blind date, but I was aware of Josh [Homme from Queens Of The Stone Age]'s music obviously - I couldn't imagine it not working."
Grohl also added that the themed night, which features a jousting show, was a great place to meet, saying: "What was good about Medieval times was that there was no risk of pretension. It broke the ice. With a lance."
As well as Grohl and Homme, the band also consists of Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones.
